U.S. President Donald Trump has announced further intensified military strikes against Iran, stating that the United States will carry out major operations against the country on Monday night and Tuesday.
Speaking with radio host Hugh Hewitt, President Donald Trump said that the memorandum of understanding was a test for Iran, but the country failed to comply with it. He added that the United States is preparing to target Mount Kolang Gaz La in central Iran.
Trump also stated that he enjoys excellent coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that relations between them remain positive. He added that although they occasionally disagree, he openly communicates those differences to Netanyahu.
Later, while speaking to the media at the White House, President Trump said that the United States is rapidly destroying Iran’s military and is also targeting Iran’s capabilities related to the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump further said that the United States will continue its strikes on Iran tonight as well. He stated that while reaching an agreement is still possible, imposing a blockade on Iran would be more effective than bombing. He also claimed that Iran’s first- and second-tier leadership has been eliminated.
The U.S. president added that countries whose security is being protected by the United States in the Strait of Hormuz should bear the costs of that protection.
It is worth noting that on Monday, President Donald Trump announced the reimposition of a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to the media, Trump said that the United States would be known as the protector of the Strait of Hormuz and that a 20 percent fee would be imposed on all cargo passing through the strategic waterway.
The U.S. president further stated that the Strait of Hormuz is currently open and will remain open in the future. However, the blockade will apply only to Iranian vessels and their customers. He added that all other countries, except Iran, will be allowed to use the Strait of Hormuz freely, while the blockade and the new operational mechanism will be implemented immediately.
