The Wall Street Journal has claimed that US President Donald Trump has approved a civil nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia.
According to the report, the agreement would give Saudi Arabia access to US civilian nuclear technology for energy development, supporting the Kingdom’s peaceful nuclear energy ambitions.
The newspaper said the proposed nuclear cooperation agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia would remain in effect for 30 years.
The report also estimated the value of the deal to be worth several billion dollars, although no official financial details have been released.
Citing US officials, the Wall Street Journal further claimed that the agreement could potentially pave the way for uranium enrichment activities in Saudi Arabia.
The report has not yet been officially confirmed by either the US or Saudi governments.
