Pakistan has responded to India’s remarks at the United Nations Security Council, stating that Jammu and Kashmir is neither an integral part of India nor an internal matter.
Speaking at the UN, Pakistan’s Counsellor Saima Saleem said it was “ironic” for India to lecture others about peace, arguing that India itself had taken the Kashmir issue to the UN Security Council but was now disregarding its resolutions.
She claimed that human rights violations continue in Indian-administered Kashmir and said India’s position cannot alter the internationally recognized status of the dispute.
Saleem also said that India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty violates international law. She argued that the waters of the Indus River are a source of life and should not be used as a weapon of war.
The Pakistani diplomat further alleged that terrorism networks linked to India have expanded beyond the region and claimed that Hindutva ideology has institutionalized Islamophobia in India.
India has not immediately responded publicly to these remarks.
