Pakistan has strongly condemned recent remarks by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as provocative and irresponsible.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said the country remains fully committed to countering and defeating any act of aggression by India.
The spokesperson said the Indian defence minister’s remarks were an attempt to distort the facts surrounding the Kashmir dispute, adding that Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized issue on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council.
The Foreign Office further stated that such remarks reflect what it described as a deliberate policy that threatens regional and international peace. It also alleged that India was attempting to divert attention from its policies in Indian-administered Kashmir, its alleged support for terrorism in the region and its domestic challenges.
The spokesperson warned India not to underestimate Pakistan’s resolve, saying the Pakistani nation and its armed forces had demonstrated their determination during Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos last year.
The Foreign Office also urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take notice of what it called India’s continued irresponsible conduct and to hold New Delhi accountable for implementing UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
India has not immediately responded publicly to Pakistan’s statement.
