Quetta: Security forces killed 12 militants in an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kalat district, while police separately foiled a militant attack in Bhag city.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation in Kalat was conducted following confirmed intelligence regarding the presence of militants.
ISPR said the hideout was identified and monitored before security forces carried out the operation, killing 12 militants.
Weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices recovered from the hideout were also destroyed at the site.
According to ISPR, a clearance operation is continuing in the area to eliminate militants it described as operating with Indian support.
The military’s media wing said counterterrorism operations would continue under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam until terrorism is completely eliminated from the country.
Separately, Balochistan Chief Minister’s aide Shahid Rind said police had successfully repelled a militant attack in Bhag city.
According to Rind, around 40 militants armed with heavy weapons, rockets and hand grenades attacked a police station, a bank and the assistant commissioner’s office.
He said the attackers failed to seize the police station or take weapons, while two police personnel and three civilians were injured in the firing.
The militants also failed to take cash from the bank, while a bomb disposal unit defused an IED planted inside the building.
