Islamabad: Pakistan received more than $763 million in external financing during July 2026, the first month of the current fiscal year 2026-27, including $744.6 million in loans and $18.3 million in grants.
According to a report issued by the Economic Affairs Division, the external funds received during July were equivalent to approximately Rs214.99 billion in Pakistani currency.
Of the total amount, around Rs209.88 billion was received in the form of loans, while grants accounted for approximately Rs5.10 billion.
The report showed that external financing increased by 10% in July 2026 compared with the corresponding month of July 2025.
However, external financing declined sharply by 81% compared with June 2026, when the government had received more than $4 billion from external sources.
According to the Economic Affairs Division, bilateral countries provided $19.6 million during July 2026, while various international institutions contributed $252.8 million.
Pakistan also borrowed $343.9 million through Naya Pakistan Certificates during the month, accounting for a significant portion of the overall external financing.
The World Bank provided $130 million in loans to Pakistan during July, while the Asian Development Bank extended $59.1 million.
China also provided $146.6 million in guaranteed loans to Pakistan during July 2026.
