Riyadh: The Saudi-led coalition has vowed a strong response to missile and drone attacks launched by Houthi forces against Saudi Arabia.
Major General Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, said the Houthis had targeted civilians and civilian property, describing the attacks as evidence of what he called their extremist approach and policy of escalating tensions.
Al-Maliki said coalition forces would respond to the attacks with responsibility and determination, adding that all necessary operational and defensive measures would be taken to counter the Houthis.
He said necessary steps would be taken to protect Saudi Arabia’s security, civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Earlier, the Saudi-led military coalition said multiple ballistic missile and drone attacks launched by Houthi forces against Saudi Arabia on Monday had injured 13 civilians.
According to the coalition, civilian facilities in Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif were also targeted in the attacks.
The Houthis, meanwhile, claimed a day earlier that they had targeted Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid Air Base with ballistic missiles and drones.
