Following Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, an emergency meeting of senior military officials from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan has been called.
According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, senior military officials from the three countries will discuss ways to support Saudi Arabia under the joint defence agreement.
Earlier, the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye met in New York. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed preparations for convening the emergency meeting of senior military officials.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said the meeting also reviewed progress on establishing the General Secretariat, committees and working groups under the Makkah Agreement, as well as preparations to begin implementing the agreement.
The three foreign ministers strongly condemned attacks on Makkah and Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic facilities. They praised the Saudi armed forces’ efforts to defend the country and supported Saudi Arabia’s right to self-defence. They also exchanged views on the regional situation.
Ishaq Dar said the meeting was held within the framework of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement. The ministers discussed progress on establishing institutional structures under the agreement, regional developments and international affairs.
