In Karachi, shopkeepers have blatantly disregarded the government’s price list and are selling goods at prices according to their own discretion.
Chicken meat is available at Rs 650 and goat meat at Rs 2200 per kg, despite the official price being set at Rs 608 and Rs 1700 per kg.
The prices of fruits are also out of range, apples with official rate of Rs. 219 are being sold at Rs. 300 per kg, bananas at Rs. 179 are being sold at Rs. 250 per dozen.
The official price of Iranian dates is Rs 633 but it is available in the market for Rs 800 per kg.
