The first case of epidemic Monkeypox has been reported in Sweden, with an infected patient being placed in an intensive care ward.
Swedish authorities have confirmed the first case of Monkeypox, and social contacts of the infected patient are being investigated.
Earlier on Thursday, the World Health Organization declared Monkeypox a global public health emergency for the second time in two years following an outbreak in the Republic of Congo.
“We have been confirmed by medical experts that we have a serious case of monkeypox in Sweden, called Clade Eye,” Swedish Health and Social Affairs Minister Jakob Forsmeed told a news conference.
The minister further said that the situation is being reviewed and all precautionary measures are being taken regarding this epidemic.
