During the hearing of a case related to slow internet speeds, Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Aamer Farooq, remarked that before issuing any orders, it is important to understand what is actually happening.
The case, which concerns slow internet speeds and the installation of a firewall in the country, was heard by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. Advocate Imaan Mazari appeared in court on behalf of the petitioner.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Aamer Farooq inquired, “Has the internet become slow these days? Before we issue any orders, explain what exactly is going on. Which ministry is responsible for this? We need to find out the reason for the decrease in internet speed. Should we ask the PTA or the Ministry of Information Technology?”
Advocate Imaan Mazari informed the court that the PTA has remained silent on the matter.
The Chief Justice further questioned, “Should we summon the Secretary or the Joint Secretary?” To this, the lawyer responded that they request the court to summon senior officials from the relevant ministries. The Chief Justice stated that they would call those who are knowledgeable about the matter and can brief the court.
Subsequently, the Islamabad High Court issued notices to the parties involved and adjourned the hearing until Monday.
