Peshawar High Court issued notices to PTA and Federal Secretary IT on the petition against low speed of internet in the country.
A 2-member bench headed by Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Muhammad Ejaz Khan heard the petition filed against internet slowness. Petitioner’s lawyer Nauman Mohib Kakakhel argued that users are facing problems due to internet slowness across the country. .
Justice Ejaz Anwar asked what is this firewall? The lawyer said that it is something on which anything can be intercepted and controlled on a digital platform. After installing the firewall, audio and video won’t download when you want them to. Only messages will be sent.
The court remarked that there is a problem in the Internet for many days, to which the lawyer said that there is a problem in the whole of Pakistan and the government is not doing anything.
The court asked whether the government also knows why this is happening. While the government is saying it has slowed down the use of VPNs, the lawyer said the government has forced people to use VPNs. Using a VPN is risky, but there is no other option.
Later, the court issued notices to PTA and Federal Secretary IT.
