The Meteorological Department has forecast cold and dry weather for most regions of the country, with severe cold in hilly areas and moderate fog persisting in Southern Punjab and Upper Sindh.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain cold and dry in most areas, with severe cold expected in mountainous regions. Moderate to dense fog is likely to cover Eastern Punjab and Upper Sindh, and mist is expected in Kashmir, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, and some areas of Upper Punjab.
The weather in Islamabad and its surroundings will remain cold and dry, with predictions of severe cold and mist. Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience freezing and dry weather, with severe cold expected in mountainous areas.
The department also mentioned that most districts in Punjab will experience cold and dry weather, and severe cold will persist in hilly areas such as Murree and Galyat. Cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of Balochistan, and severe cold and dry conditions are also expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Additionally, the cold intensity in Mansehra City and the upper areas continues. The temperature in Mansehra Naran has dropped to minus 16°C, minus 14°C in Kaghan, and minus 7°C in Shogran. In the urban areas of Mansehra, the temperature has also dropped to minus 1°C.
The administration has reopened the Shogran Road, which was closed due to snowfall, for traffic, allowing tourists to travel to Shogran and Kaghan.
In Lahore, the weather remains cold and dry, with the sun breaking through. The current temperature is recorded at 9°C, and there is no chance of rain in the next 24 hours.
According to the Air Quality Index, the city’s overall air pollution level is 186, making Lahore the second most polluted city. The US Consulate recorded 356, DHA Phase 8 recorded 245, Adda Plot recorded 236, and Johar Town recorded 230 on the pollution scale.
Meanwhile, Karachi is experiencing a rise in cold temperatures, with the mercury dropping to 10°C. The minimum temperature overnight fell to 8°C.
The Meteorological Department reports that the weather in Karachi is currently cold and dry, with a current temperature of 10°C. The maximum temperature is expected to rise to 26°C.
According to the department, the humidity level in the air is 37%, and there is a light breeze from the northern direction.
The department also indicated that the intensity of the cold is expected to decrease starting from January 9, as western winds will enter Balochistan, which will reduce the cold in Karachi. However, an increase in cold intensity is expected again starting January 12.
The Meteorological Department also stated that there is no likelihood of rain in the province until next week.
