The New Gwadar International Airport, a significant project under the CPEC Corridor, has been inaugurated, with the first flight from Karachi landing at the airport. Governor Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandokhel, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Federal Minister Khawaja Asif, and prominent Chinese dignitaries welcomed the passengers.
According to the flight schedule, Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-503 was the first to land at the New Gwadar International Airport.
This flight’s departure from Karachi was delayed by 45 minutes. It took off at 10:00 AM instead of 9:15 AM and landed at 11:11 AM.
The first flight to land at the New Gwadar Airport was given a water salute, and a vibrant ceremony was held to mark the occasion.
On FlightRadar, the location of the New Gwadar Airport was tagged, while the tag for the old Gwadar Airport has been removed.
The Gwadar International Airport is Pakistan’s largest airport by area, spanning 430 acres and located 26 kilometers from Gwadar city in Goran Danni.
The airport’s single runway is 3,658 meters long and 75 meters wide, capable of accommodating large aircraft.
Built at approximately 50 billion PKR, the Gwadar Airport can facilitate landing for large airplanes such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif performed the symbolic inauguration of the New Gwadar Airport on October 14, 2024. However, regular flight operations officially began today.
