The federal government is once again likely to change the date for presenting the annual budget.
According to sources, offices will remain closed on June 7 and 8 due to Eid holidays, while June 9, the third day of Eid, may be declared a working day.
Sources said the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting and the release of the Economic Survey are scheduled for June 9. However, both activities may not be feasible on the same day. The NEC meeting will be attended by the chief ministers of all four provinces, the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, and the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The NEC meeting is expected to finalize the development program and usually continues throughout the day. Traditionally, a two-day gap is maintained between the NEC meeting and the budget presentation. For this reason, the government is considering extending the budget date by two days.
It is worth noting that the government had earlier announced to present the federal budget on June 10.
