Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has finally spoken out regarding the widely discussed statue of him recently installed at Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad.
Taking to the social media platform X, Akram shared a photo of his statue alongside that of a cheetah and jokingly remarked, “My statue is better than this cheetah.”
Commenting on the ongoing debate, he noted that while the statue at Niaz Stadium has stirred a lot of conversation, what truly matters to him is the idea or the sentiment behind such gestures.
Wasim Akram praised the artist behind the statue, saying their efforts deserve appreciation, and acknowledged everyone involved in the project as deserving of full credit.

The statue, which portrays Akram in his iconic bowling action wearing the 1999 ICC World Cup jersey, has drawn criticism online for lacking facial resemblance to the cricket legend. Many fans claimed the face looked more like a Hollywood action hero than the former fast bowler.
