The government of Balochistan has announced a public holiday across the province on September 6 to mark both Defence Day and Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ. All government offices and departments will remain closed on the day, allowing citizens to participate in national and religious events.
According to the official notification, the holiday has been declared to pay tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the defense of the country during the 1965 war, while also providing an opportunity for people to celebrate 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal with religious zeal. Various gatherings, processions, and ceremonies will be held across the province to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
The statement further said that the holiday aims to provide convenience to the public, enabling them to attend commemorative events and perform their religious practices without interruption.
It should be noted that the Sindh government had already announced public holidays on September 5 and 6. According to the Sindh notification, all government and private offices, schools, and other institutions will remain closed on those dates.
Defence Day is observed annually on September 6 to honor the sacrifices of martyrs and veterans of the 1965 war, while Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ is celebrated by Muslims around the world as a day of deep faith and reverence, marking the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
