An important commander of the Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K), who was involved in planning a failed suicide attack on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, was killed during a police operation in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to available information, the IS-K commander was shot dead late at night during a police raid in the Ambarri village of Karak. Police launched the operation based on intelligence reports, and a heavy exchange of gunfire took place between the two sides.
The encounter, which continued for nearly four hours, resulted in the killing of IS-K commander Nisar Hakim, while four police personnel were injured during the gunfight. Sources stated that Nisar Hakim had been directly involved in planning the failed suicide attack on Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Security officials noted that the district of Karak has long been under the close watch of law enforcement and intelligence agencies, as it is considered one of the areas linked to IS-K’s network and recruitment activities.
