A tragic traffic accident occurred on the Mehran Highway near Nawabshah due to dense fog, resulting in the deaths of three people and creating a wave of grief in the area.
According to police, the accident took place at the Bochheri point on the Mehran Highway when two vehicles collided head-on because of extremely low visibility caused by thick fog, increasing the severity of the crash.
As a result of the accident, three people died on the spot, while two children were injured and shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police said that the deceased belonged to the suburban areas of Nawabshah.
Meanwhile, due to dense fog, motorways in various parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh were closed to prevent further accidents and ensure public safety.
Authorities stated that driving had become highly dangerous in several cities due to severely reduced visibility and increased risk of accidents, prompting the suspension of traffic on major motorways as a precautionary measure.
According to officials, the M-1 motorway from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Burhan, the M-2 from Thokar Niaz Baig to Balkasar, and the M-3 from Faizpur to Darkhana were closed.
In addition, the M-4 from Shershah to Pindi Bhattian and the M-5 from Rohri to Shershah were also closed, while traffic on the M-11 motorway has been completely suspended.
