Meta has announced the introduction of early 2026 new features for WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging platform, aimed at enhancing and improving the overall group chat experience for users.
According to the company, three new features have been added specifically for group chats, including member tags, text stickers, and event reminders. Meta stated that the beginning of the new year is the ideal time to upgrade group chat functionalities and offer users more interactive tools.
The member tags feature allows users to set nicknames or tags within each chat group, helping them express their identity more clearly and inform others about their role or position within the group. The company added that different tags can be used in different groups.
The second feature focuses on text stickers, which Meta described as a unique addition. With this feature, users can now convert any word into a sticker by typing the desired text into the sticker search bar. These text-based stickers can also be saved and added to sticker packs for future use.
The third feature is the event reminder option, which introduces custom event reminder support in WhatsApp. Users can now create events within a group and set specific reminders, ensuring that group members are notified in advance.
Meta confirmed that the rollout of these features has already begun, and they will soon be available to all WhatsApp users worldwide.
