French President Emmanuel Macron drew widespread attention after wearing blue-colored glasses while delivering a speech at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss city of Davos, prompting curiosity and speculation across media and social platforms.
During his nearly 18-minute address, Emmanuel Macron did not directly explain the reason for wearing the blue aviator-style glasses. However, French media reports stated that he wore them due to a medical condition affecting his eye.
According to reports, the French president was first seen wearing the same blue glasses last week while addressing the French armed forces on the occasion of the New Year, when the condition of his eye was visibly noticeable.
While speaking to the armed forces, Macron briefly removed the glasses and explained that although the appearance of his eye might look unusual, the condition was harmless and not a cause for concern.
French media further reported that a small blood vessel in Macron’s eye had burst, a condition medically known as subconjunctival hemorrhage, which can occur due to minor injury, severe coughing or sneezing, or the use of blood-thinning medication.
Health experts say that this condition usually resolves on its own within about two weeks without requiring medical treatment and does not pose a long-term risk to eyesight.
Meanwhile, images of the French president wearing blue glasses quickly went viral on social media, leading to various interpretations and assumptions by users.
Some users described the glasses as a symbolic political message, suggesting that Macron was expressing a firm stance against potential heavy US tariffs on French wine and threats related to Greenland.
It is worth noting that President Macron has previously conveyed messages to the public through his choice of clothing, such as in 2022 when he wore a turtleneck sweater during Europe’s energy crisis to urge citizens to adopt simplicity.
