The Sindh Assembly has rejected all resolutions presented by opposition members during its session. Among them was a resolution moved by MQM member Anil Kumar, which called for a complete ban on the purchase and sale of liquor across the province and the cancellation of all liquor shop licences.
During the debate, Sindh Law and Home Minister Zia Lanjar opposed the resolution, stating that such a ban would deprive a large segment of society. He remarked that his colleagues appeared somewhat emotional today, after which the House rejected the resolution.
The Assembly also dismissed two additional resolutions presented by MQM member Quratulain Khan. One resolution proposed the introduction of life-based skill learning to prevent sexual abuse and harassment of children, while the other sought the formation of a committee to review the performance of the Sindh Building Control Authority.
