An incident of unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban occurred along the Pak-Afghan border in Khyber district, prompting Pakistan’s security forces to respond swiftly and effectively. According to officials, during the retaliatory action, an Afghan forces’ check post was targeted and destroyed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s spokesperson for foreign media, Musharraf Zaidi, stated in a post on X that the Afghan Taliban opened unprovoked fire at the Pak-Afghan border in the areas of Torkham and Tirah. He added that Pakistan’s security forces responded promptly and effectively to the aggression.
Security sources reported that clashes took place at three different points along the border area, and the exchange of fire continued for nearly an hour. They confirmed that all Pakistan Army personnel remained safe and no casualties were reported on the Pakistani side.
The Prime Minister’s spokesperson emphasized that any further provocation would be met with an immediate and firm response. He stated that Pakistan will continue to defend its citizens and safeguard its territorial integrity at all costs.
