A senior scientist at the United States space agency NASA has stated that considering the vastness of the universe, the possibility of extraterrestrial life is strong. However, he emphasized that there is no credible evidence to suggest that any alien life form has ever visited Earth.
Dr. Gentry Lee, who has been associated with NASA since 1968, made these remarks while addressing a scientific event. He said that to date, there is no reliable proof indicating that any extraterrestrial being or its machine has set foot on Earth. According to him, those who believe such claims have been misled, as these ideas lack a scientific foundation.
Dr Lee further explained that the immense scale of the universe, with its billions of galaxies, suggests that life may exist somewhere beyond Earth. He expressed confidence that humanity will eventually discover life in some form elsewhere in the universe.
His comments come at a time when former United States President Barack Obama once stated that extraterrestrial life is real but later clarified that during his presidency, he had not received any evidence confirming the presence of aliens on Earth.
Meanwhile, current United States President Donald Trump has directed the government to prepare for the release of files related to extraterrestrial life and unidentified flying objects in order to make public information available.
According to astronomers, planets that possess Earth-like atmospheres and environments are considered the most suitable candidates in the search for extraterrestrial life. In this context, an Earth-sized planet located approximately 40 light-years away is being viewed as a potential candidate for hosting life, and research regarding it is ongoing.
