According to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority’s report for the fiscal year 2024-25, a total of 118 deaths were recorded over the year in areas managed by power distribution companies. The report provides a breakdown of casualties reported within the jurisdictions of different companies.
The report states that the highest number of deaths, 24, occurred in areas managed by K Electric, marking the largest figure among all distribution companies. These statistics raise concerns regarding safety measures and the management of the electricity system.
Similarly, 22 deaths were reported in areas under Iesco, making it the second highest in terms of casualties. The report emphasizes the need for stronger safety protocols by the relevant authorities.
According to Nepra’s findings, the lowest number of fatalities, two, was recorded in areas managed by Qesco, significantly lower compared to other companies.
