Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government speaks of forming a force for the release of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf but refrains from raising its voice effectively against terrorism. He described this as a contradiction in priorities.
In his statement, Khawaja Asif said that the provincial government avoids attending the funerals of martyrs, despite daily reports of police personnel being martyred. He added that the PTI founder has been made the first and last priority, while other issues are being treated as insignificant.
He further remarked that efforts appear focused on safeguarding the chief minister’s position, while the security of the province and the country is being overlooked. According to him, the internal structure of the political party is unclear, with multiple factions whose exact number remains uncertain.
The defence minister also claimed that many within the party seemingly prefer that the PTI founder remain in prison, while overseas YouTubers are benefiting from the situation. He alleged that internal divisions exist within the party and members are criticizing one another.
Khawaja Asif concluded that although there are thousands of disagreements among various PTI groups, there is complete consensus on one issue that the party founder should remain behind bars.
