In view of the prevailing situation in the city, the administrations of Karachi University and Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology have announced the closure of the institutions for students. Authorities stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure, given law-and-order concerns.
At Karachi University, academic activities will remain suspended, and all examinations scheduled for March 2 have been postponed. According to the registrar of Karachi University, new examination dates will be announced later. The notification has been issued with the approval of the vice chancellor.
Similarly, the administration of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology has postponed all classes scheduled for today. However, faculty members and administrative staff have been directed to report to duty as usual.
The administration stated that preparation of examination results and registration-related administrative matters will continue as per schedule to ensure that academic and office work is not disrupted. A formal notification in this regard has also been issued by Registrar Syed Sarfaraz Ali.
It is noteworthy that following the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, protest demonstrations and rallies are being held in various cities of the country, leading to tightened security arrangements.
