According to Bloomberg, Pakistan has suspended gas supply to its fertilizer industry due to increasing pressure on gas supplies from Qatar. The move is seen as a precautionary measure amid concerns over a potential energy shortage.
The report also indicates that authorities are considering reducing gas supply to the broader industrial sector in order to prioritize essential energy needs.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Petroleum Monitoring Committee was held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, where current petrol and diesel reserves in the country were declared satisfactory.
During the meeting, the finance minister said the government is closely monitoring the uncertain situation in the Strait of Hormuz due to its potential impact on global energy supply routes.
Officials also briefed the committee that Pakistan is in contact with friendly countries to secure additional crude oil supplies to prevent any potential energy crisis.
