The Israeli government was left surprised by US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire with Iran, which is being seen as an unexpected development in the regional situation.
According to Arab media reports, expectations of a major offensive against Iran were dashed, as the situation took a sudden and different turn.
An Israeli official stated that they were surprised by Trump’s decision and received updates at the last moment, while the overall situation appeared to have been prearranged.
Meanwhile, Israeli journalist Zeev Rubinstein said it must be acknowledged that the war is unlikely to resume after the two-week ceasefire. He added that the world is observing the situation and is aware of the facts, and even advanced fighter jets cannot prevail against the value of a barrel of oil.
Zeev Rubinstein further stated that Iran is an ancient civilization that existed 1,500 years before Trump and will continue to exist for another 1,500 years.
