A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court against unannounced electricity loadshedding across the country, as rising temperatures worsen the situation for citizens and businesses.
According to details, citizens are already facing severe electricity and gas shortages, and with the onset of intense heat, unannounced loadshedding has now been extended to areas previously exempted, increasing public hardship.
Advocate Azhar Siddique, representing the petitioner, argued that despite paying high electricity bills, citizens are not receiving an uninterrupted power supply, while businesses are also suffering due to outages.
The petition has requested the court to direct power distribution companies to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply and immediately end unannounced loadshedding.
Meanwhile, the Power Division has also announced an additional two and a half hours of loadshedding nationwide from 5 pm to 1 am, adding further burden on electricity consumers.
