Washington: US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated that Iran has a historic opportunity to reach a deal and must abandon its nuclear program to move forward.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that Iran still has a chance to make a wise and well-considered decision at the negotiation table, as the current situation requires a decisive step.
The US Defense Secretary added that the situation now depends on Iran’s response, and this is being viewed as a critical and historic opportunity for a deal.
He further stated that the US naval blockade around Iranian waters is strengthening with each passing day, increasing pressure on Tehran.
Meanwhile, US General Dan Kane said that the United States is implementing a complete blockade of the Strait of Hormuz at all levels, adding that the crew of the seized Iranian vessel Tosca is safe.
