The US Department of State has announced the gradual closure of the American Consulate in Peshawar, describing the move as an important administrative and diplomatic decision.
According to a statement issued by the US State Department, diplomatic responsibilities related to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will now be transferred to the US Embassy in Islamabad, which will oversee future operations and affairs.
The statement noted that the decision was made in the context of ensuring better security for diplomatic staff and improving the effective use of available resources.
The US State Department stated that despite this change, American policy priorities regarding Pakistan will remain unchanged, and engagement with the people and authorities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will continue.
According to the statement, the United States will continue efforts to strengthen economic ties, development cooperation, and diplomatic relations in the region.
