Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has stated that any agreement between Iran and the United States does not mean Tehran will forget or forgive what it describes as American and Israeli actions against the Iranian people.
Speaking at a press briefing in Tehran, Baghaei said the mechanism for signing a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States would be finalized within the next day, after which an official announcement would be made.
He noted that the signing is expected to take place in Geneva on Friday and that Iranian officials will visit neighboring countries before the ceremony.
Baghaei said the proposed understanding includes ending hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, and emphasizes respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He added that Iran, Oman and other countries would work together to ensure safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, while a maritime service fee would be implemented for a specified period.
According to the Iranian spokesperson, the United States has committed to restoring Iran’s frozen assets and addressing compensation-related issues under the agreement.
He stressed that the assets belong to Iran and should be returned, adding that Iran must also be allowed to resume oil and petrochemical exports without restrictions.
Baghaei warned that if Washington fails to fulfill its commitments, it could face reciprocal measures from Tehran.
He also reiterated that the agreement does not erase past grievances and that Iranians will not forget the losses suffered during recent conflicts.
The spokesperson criticized international organizations for failing to condemn actions taken against Iran and said rebuilding trust between Iran and the United States would require a long and difficult process.
