The Pakistan Cricket Board has introduced a new central contracts structure, bringing significant changes aimed at aligning player contracts with the demands of modern cricket.
Under the new model, players will be divided into four different categories based on formats and performance requirements.
According to the PCB, Track A and Track B will include Test and One-Day International cricketers.
Track A will primarily consist of red-ball specialists, while Track B and Track C will accommodate players involved in limited-overs cricket.
The board stated that Track C will be reserved exclusively for Twenty20 players, while Track D will include emerging and academy cricketers.
Performance-Based Contracts
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that 85 percent of a player’s contract value will now be linked directly to performance.
He added that data analysis and performance metrics are also being incorporated into domestic cricket to improve player evaluation and development.
Naqvi acknowledged that while Pakistan has achieved reasonable results in bilateral series, performances in major tournaments have not met expectations, prompting the need for reforms.
Domestic Cricket Participation Mandatory
The PCB chairman emphasized that national players will be required to participate in domestic cricket, warning that those who fail to do so may face consequences.
He said the new framework has been explained in detail to players and aims to eliminate confusion regarding contract categories and selection criteria.
Naqvi also expressed support for conducting fitness tests in front of the media to enhance transparency.
According to the PCB, the revised structure recognizes the distinct requirements of different formats and is designed to encourage higher performance standards across all levels of Pakistan cricket.
