Former India wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat has joined a UAE domestic team just days after announcing his retirement from international cricket.
According to reports, KS Bharat has been named in the Stallions squad for the UAE Two-Day Championship, a domestic tournament designed to enhance players’ long-format cricket skills.
The move comes shortly after Bharat brought an end to his international career, marking his first participation in an overseas domestic competition.
Between 2023 and 2024, Bharat represented India in seven Test matches, primarily serving as the team’s wicketkeeper during the absence of Rishabh Pant.
In those seven Tests, he scored 221 runs at an average of 20.09, with a highest score of 44. He has not featured for India since February 2024.
While announcing his retirement, Bharat described representing India as the greatest honor of his life and said every moment of his international journey was worthwhile.
He will now serve as the wicketkeeper for the Stallions in the UAE Two-Day Championship.
The tournament features two-day matches with 80 overs scheduled per day, while teams can earn additional points for innings victories or winning by 10 wickets.
The competition began on June 19 and will feature seven matches, with the final scheduled for July 4.
