The federal government has announced public holidays across Pakistan on the occasion of Ashura.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, June 25 and June 26 will be observed as public holidays nationwide.
The holidays will apply to government offices and public institutions, while provincial governments are expected to issue separate notifications regarding local arrangements.
Meanwhile, security measures have been tightened in the federal capital ahead of Ashura processions and gatherings.
Authorities have imposed a ban on pillion riding in Islamabad during the observance of Ashura, although mobile phone services will remain operational.
Officials stated that a comprehensive security plan has been put in place to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the religious observances.
