A US newspaper has claimed that President Donald Trump is considering the option of deploying ground troops to Iran.
According to the report, citing US officials, the White House is reviewing military options that include seizing Iranian islands near the Strait of Hormuz through a ground operation.
The report has not been officially confirmed by the US government.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said Iran would be defeated soon and claimed Tehran wants to resolve the crisis through negotiations.
Trump said Iran is seeking talks and that the United States will decide whether to reach an agreement with Tehran.
He also stated that Iran had released an American woman detained during the Biden administration, describing the move as a gesture of goodwill.
Asked about a reported deadline for attacks on Iranian bridges, Trump said he does not like setting deadlines.
The US president added that Iran should change its behaviour and is fully aware of the current situation.
Separately, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed fresh strikes against Iran, saying the operation targeted military capabilities posing a threat to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian media reported explosions in Sirik, Ahvaz, Chabahar and Bandar Abbas.
According to reports, the latest US strikes killed seven Iranian military personnel and 30 civilians.
