Oil marketing companies have reduced fuel supplies to petrol pumps across Punjab, according to the Petroleum Dealers Association Central Punjab.
Association President Chaudhry Nauman Majeed said that only 50 percent of the city’s fuel demand was met today.
He stated that the reduction in supply was linked to rising crude oil prices in the international market.
According to him, the limited supply has affected around 90 percent of petrol pumps in rural areas and 50 percent of pumps in urban areas.
Meanwhile, oil marketing companies said delays in customs clearance of imported fuel are disrupting the supply chain.
The companies urged the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to ensure the uninterrupted availability of petroleum products across the country.
They also argued that a system of changing petroleum prices on a daily basis is not practical.
According to the companies, frequent price revisions are neither in the public interest nor suitable for business operations.
