Yemen’s Houthi movement, Ansar Allah, has announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia, saying the move is in response to what it describes as the blockade imposed on Yemen.
A spokesperson for Ansar Allah claimed that the group was initiating a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia. According to the spokesperson, the decision was taken in response to the alleged siege on Yemen and the continued closure of Sanaa International Airport.
The spokesperson further claimed that the closure of Sanaa Airport was unacceptable and would be met with reciprocal measures.
The Houthis had previously accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out airstrikes on Sanaa Airport and pledged to respond.
The group later launched missile attacks toward Saudi Arabia, which Saudi authorities said were successfully intercepted.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have raised serious concerns in Pakistan and claimed that Islamabad conveyed to Iran that Saudi Arabia is its “red line” and that any attack on the Kingdom would be considered an attack on Pakistan. This claim has not been independently verified.
