According to sources, Saudi Arabia has extended the maturity period of Pakistan’s $5 billion loan for another three years.
The move is expected to provide support to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and ease immediate repayment pressures on the country’s economy.
Sources said the funds had originally been provided to help Pakistan meet its payment obligations to the United Arab Emirates. The loan was initially extended for a period of three months before its maturity was prolonged.
No official statement has yet been issued regarding the reported development.
