Anita Deepke, the mother of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke, has alleged that unidentified individuals pressured her son to join India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and threatened him with serious consequences if he refused.
Speaking to a Marathi news channel, Anita Deepke claimed that her family had been subjected to intimidation following her son’s decision to establish the political platform.
According to her, the family was forced to leave its home in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and spend nearly 16 days in hiding at a relative’s residence in the Konkan region.
She further alleged that Abhijit Deepke, who was in Boston at the time, received a video message urging him to align himself politically with the BJP.
Anita Deepke said that although her son insisted he was not afraid of the threats, he remained concerned about the safety of his family.
Reports state that the Cockroach Janta Party emerged from an online movement that later evolved into a broader youth campaign against alleged irregularities in examinations and paper leaks.
The report also claimed that Abhijit Deepke staged a 36-day protest at Jantar Mantar alongside social activist Sonam Wangchuk, increasing pressure on the government.
The BJP and relevant authorities have not issued an immediate response to these allegations.
