London: Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has said that new provinces can be created in Pakistan if parliament and the relevant provincial assemblies support the move with a two-thirds majority.
Speaking to the media in London, the federal law minister discussed the creation of new provinces, elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the country’s political situation.
Tarar said the biggest issue in Azad Kashmir was holding elections, adding that the electoral process was conducted peacefully and transparently.
Commenting on the possibility of creating new provinces in Pakistan, he said that whenever the provincial assemblies and parliament agree, new provinces can be established with the required two-thirds majority.
The federal minister also spoke about political dialogue between the government and opposition, saying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had invited the opposition for talks on several occasions.
Referring to the political situation in Azad Kashmir, Tarar said Nawaz Sharif had the right to choose the prime minister of Azad Kashmir.
