Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has made it clear that Pakistan will go to any extent to defend Saudi Arabia against attacks and will stand fully with the kingdom.
Speaking to an Arab television channel, the DG ISPR said Pakistan was present there to protect the Two Holy Mosques and there should be no doubt about it. He said Pakistan would continue to defend Saudi Arabia against any aggression.
The military spokesperson said Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security was unconditional. He described it as an unbreakable historic bond between the peoples, armed forces and political leadership of both countries.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan would continue defending Saudi Arabia and was prepared to go to any extent for that purpose.
In an earlier interview, when asked about Pakistan’s response if any party to the Makkah Agreement were attacked, the DG ISPR had said that the mechanism for implementing defence commitments was never disclosed publicly.
He said the three countries would jointly determine the response to any attack and implement it accordingly.
The DG ISPR said no one objected to the Makkah Agreement because it was understood to be defensive in nature and intended to maintain peace and stability in the region.
He added that other defence agreements also existed, including commitments to support one another. He said procedures for action under such agreements, military operations and security-related information were kept confidential, while decisions regarding any action would be taken by the three countries.
