Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon said the judicial commission’s recommendations in the Mir Raza murder case would be implemented and anyone found responsible for negligence would be punished.
In a statement, Memon said the judicial commission had been formed following a Sindh cabinet decision. Its report was presented at the cabinet meeting held the previous day.
He said the chief minister had formed a committee comprising three senior ministers: Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Saeed Ghani and Nasir Shah. The committee would study the report and brief the cabinet, while implementation of the commission’s recommendations would be ensured.
Memon said it would be unfair to attribute one individual’s mistake to the entire department. He added that the same Sindh Police had solved major cases.
Discussing development projects, he said Karachi’s Orange Line project was ready. Work on University Road under the Red Line project had been a major challenge, but the difficult and disruptive phase had been completed. Stations and depots remained to be built.
He said University Road was no longer causing as much inconvenience, although encroachment issues remained. Work on the Yellow Line was due to begin, while the second section of Jam Sadiq Bridge would also be completed soon.
Memon said Yellow Line construction could cause some traffic problems and apologised in advance for the inconvenience to residents. He added that a large number of double-decker buses would arrive in November and that sustained efforts were helping resolve Karachi’s transport problems.
