Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stated that every possible measure will be taken in the upcoming budget to provide relief to the common man.
According to details, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to prepare the budget for the fiscal year 2023-24. The Prime Minister was briefed by the economic team on the preparations for the budget.
During the briefing, it was revealed that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year will be presented to the federal cabinet for approval on June 9, 2023. Steps towards economic stability and a continuous reduction in fiscal losses were highlighted.
The meeting also reviewed the arrivals and production-related aspects, as well as the targeted estimates for the previous year.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that every possible step should be taken in the upcoming budget to provide relief to the common man, and all means should be employed to reduce the financial difficulties of the poor and middle-class segments.
Shahbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction that the prices of urea fertilizer are consistently decreasing due to timely measures, and a current account surplus has been achieved after several years in the past two months.
He directed that pension reforms be given final shape as soon as possible, and a procedural mechanism should be implemented to establish a pension fund so that the burden on the national exchequer can be reduced.
The Prime Minister stated that the best possible welfare and prosperity of pensioners should be ensured, and concrete steps should be taken to increase agricultural produce and enhance the textile sector.
