Some people are making efforts to ruin the country through laughter and jokes: Nawaz Sharif

Former Prime Minister and leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, has expressed his concern that some people are making efforts to destabilize the country while laughing and joking.

Speaking briefly to journalists on his way out of the office in London, Nawaz Sharif said that he prays to return to the same position Pakistan was in 2017 because Pakistan was doing very well in that year.

A few days ago, addressing a gathering in Lahore through a video link, Nawaz Sharif said that it was his desire to make Pakistan an economic power, but he was hindered. He mentioned that he was removed from power three times under various pretexts.

Nawaz Sharif stated that some people are making efforts to ruin the country while laughing and joking. He highlighted the significant depreciation of the Pakistani rupee, stating that in 2017, it was valued at 104 rupees to a dollar, but now it stands at 300 rupees to a dollar. He also mentioned that during his tenure, wheat was available at 33 rupees per kilogram, whereas today it costs 120 rupees per kilogram.

It is regrettable that three times someone or the other was removed under some pretext. Three times, some excuse hindered the progress of the country. On one hand, we have our progress, while on the other hand, there are those who caused destruction. We were taking the country on the path of progress. Those who are responsible for derailing it are also present in the same society. Those who plunged the country into the fire of hatred have been exposed.

They claimed that Allah has not bestowed upon us the country for the tragedy of May 9, but rather for progress. May 28, 1998, and May 9, 2023, are significant dates for the country. The symbol of May 28, 1998, represents the progress of the nation and a bright future. On the other hand, the symbol of May 9, 2023, represents hatred and destruction of the country. The people will continue to love May 28 and harbor hatred for May 9.
