Islamabad High Court has reserved its decision on the request for contempt of court filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahryar Afridi.
During the hearing, Advocate Sher Afzal Marwat informed the court that there was a blatant violation of court orders, as Shahryar Afridi was not brought before the relevant court in Islamabad. Instead, he was kept in the same cell where Mumtaz Qadri was detained.
Sher Afzal Marwat further stated that Shahryar Afridi is also suffering from physical discomfort and is not being provided with appropriate medical facilities.
The court was also informed that despite writing a letter to the Ministry of Interior and the Jail Superintendent for the transfer of the former minister, no action was taken.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir reserved the decision and remarked that an appropriate order will be issued in this matter. The case’s next hearing has been postponed until 19th June.
