Pakistan’s female superstar Mahira Khan opened up on her battle with depression, emphasizing the importance of a support system and the right medical help in this journey.
Recently, the actress spoke on several topics in Amina Haider Aysani’s podcast, one of which was mental health. During this, the actress once again admitted to having struggled with mental health issues.
Mahira advised people that if they are suffering from any illness, including mental health issues, do not feel ashamed, and find a solution as soon as possible.
The actress shared that she will soon turn 40, but she still remembers the time when she turned 30.
She said that now she thinks she should have taken better care of her health when she turned 30, especially since women need to take extra care of their health.
Mahira Khan also mentioned that those who are dealing with mental health issues and depression should not only visit doctors and experts but also talk to the people around them. People need to understand that depression is not something to be ashamed of but a disease that has a cure, medications, and experts who can help improve it, so everyone should talk about it.
The actress admitted that when her condition was really bad, medications were the biggest help for her, followed by spiritual solace and the support of people, which helped her recover from depression.
Mahira said that during her time of depression, she kept praying all the time and became closer to God, and during the tough times, she received support from her best friends, family, and her son Azlan.
