Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Dr. Khalid Mahmood Soomro’s son, Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro, reacted to the sentence announced by the court.
Today, the Anti-Terrorism Court of Sukkur, under Judge Abdul Rehman Qazi, announced the verdict in the Dr. Khalid Mahmood Soomro murder case, sentencing all six accused to life imprisonment along with heavy fines.
The accused were sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of murder and terrorism, and seven years imprisonment each for possession of weapons.
The six accused were given two counts of life imprisonment and fines exceeding 1 million rupees.
Reacting to the court’s decision, Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro stated that the accused deserved the death penalty upon the confirmation of their crime and that they would approach the High Court for this.
It is noteworthy that on November 29, 2014, JUI leader Dr. Khalid Mahmood Soomro was shot dead in Sukkur.
