India Sparks New Controversy Ahead of Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
India has stirred a new controversy ahead of the Champions Trophy scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan next month, drawing criticism for politicizing sports.
According to Indian media reports, the Indian cricket board has refused to display the host country Pakistan’s name on the team jerseys during the tournament.
The reports claim that India is bringing politics into cricket, which is detrimental to sports. First, they refused to travel to Pakistan, then declined to send their captain to Pakistan, and now they are unwilling to display the host country’s name on their jerseys.
Earlier, India had insisted on a hybrid model for the tournament after refusing to play matches in Pakistan, causing delays in the event’s schedule. As a result, India’s matches were shifted to Dubai.
Additionally, India declined to send team captain Rohit Sharma to the “Captains’ Meeting” scheduled in Pakistan before the event.
